Raglan Day

Previous

During the 1970's and 1980's "Raglan Day" became an important fixture in the calendar for the people of Raglan. Always taking place on August Bank Holiday Monday, it involved a fancy dress parade through the village followed by lots of stalls, games and entertainment on the village Sports Field.

In 2017, the Raglan Festival Committee revived "Raglan Day" on August Bank Holiday Monday with a carnival parade and a community family day, at the Sports Fields. This included local stalls, music, a community picnic, children's entertainment, a produce competition and Memory Lane tent for our elderly friends. The event has been supported by many village groups such as Scouts, WI and Young Farmers.

The project is very much aimed at the whole community of Raglan and surrounding area, being fun, inclusive and open to all age groups. The ethos of Raglan Festival is that all our events contribute to building a stronger community.

There has been a very positive response to this event with one visitor stating that,

"I love the atmosphere and how it brings the community together, it's the highlight of my year!"

Another commented,

"We love the whole community coming together, there is always a wonderful atmosphere. The Festival is a great asset to this community and brilliant to see people come together!"
